"Polypill" Could Protect Against Heart Attacks, Strokes
Scientists should combine five widely used drugs into a single pill that doctors would give to everyone older than 54, potentially protecting millions of people from heart attacks and strokes, two of the world's biggest killers, researchers proposed today.
The benefits of the "polypill" would easily outweigh the risks because it would incorporate medicines proven to be generally safe -- aspirin, the nutrient folic acid, and well-studied medications that cut blood pressure and cholesterol, the researchers said.
An analysis of more than 750 studies involving 400,000 people indicates that combined, these drugs would slash the risk of heart attacks by 88 percent and the risk of strokes by 80 percent, the researchers reported in three papers being published in Saturday's British Medical Journal.

U.N. Panel Reports No al-Qaida-Iraq Ties
The U.N. terrorism committee has found no evidence to support Bush administration claims of a link between Iraq and al-Qaida, and the United States has provided the committee with no proof, officials said Thursday.
"Nothing has come to our notice that would indicate links between Iraq and al-Qaida," said Michael Chandler, the committee's chief investigator.

Anger and Depression In The Ranks
First hand accounts by American GIs, from Bravo Company of the 3/15th US Infantry Division, who are caught in an impossible situation. More than 40 of their number have been killed by hostile forces since 1 May - when President Bush declared major military operations were over. And now they are ordered win the hearts and minds of the same Iraq people they were trained to hate for their involvement in 9/11. Our American sons and daughters have been trained to kill for the lies told by the Bush administration.
